The private airlines Ryanair, easyJet and Sun d'Or have announced new routes to and from Porto, increasing the supply, next summer, at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport. Ryanair has announced, this Wednesday, 11 new routes, making it a total of 164 in Portugal. easyJet had already announced two new routes, for the same period, totalling 89 to be operated in our country. The Israeli airline Sun d'Or also launched a seasonal summer operation between Porto and Tel Aviv.

In summer, Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport will be connected, by Ryanair, to Bristol and Leeds (England), Castellón (Spain), Maastricht (Netherlands), Nimes and Strasbourg (France), Shannon (Ireland), Stockholm (Sweden), Trapani and Turin (Italy), Warsaw (Poland), which is now joined by Copenhagen (Denmark). “We are launching our biggest ever summer schedule in Portugal, which includes four new aircraft, two of which in Porto”, announced the Irish airline’s CEO, Michael O’Leary, at a press conference.

In an investment of 400 million euros, the CEO of Ryanair made it clear that the company “continues to invest heavily in Portugal”, with a 13% growth in the summer, compared to the same period of 2022, with the aim of reach 13 million passengers transported in fiscal year 2024.

Easyjet connects Naples and Palermo to Porto

easyJet had already announced, however, at the end of last year, the new routes that will connect, during the summer, Porto to Naples (two flights per week, from April 1st) and Palermo (one weekly flight, from July 1st). The number of routes operated by the airline will reach a total of 89, with Invicta having 26 destinations. At Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, six A320 neo aircraft are now available.

At the time, the general manager of easyJet Portugal, José Lopes, highlighted "the company's strong investment in the country", foreseeing "the busiest summer ever".

Tel Aviv is closer

Sun d'Or, a subsidiary of the Israeli airline El Al and represented in Portugal by ATR, will launch a seasonal operation between Porto and Tel Aviv, which is scheduled to start on March 15th, with two direct flights per week (Mondays and Wednesdays), until October 27th.

The flights will depart from Porto at 9:30 pm, with scheduled arrival in Tel Aviv at 4:50 am, while in the opposite direction, departures from Tel Aviv will take place at 4:15 pm, arriving in Porto at 8:15 pm, always at local time.
