About
It was opened in 1784 to increase the lenght of an old road, by order of João de Almada e Mello. Bordering with the secular Collegiate of Cedofeita, it turned into an important residential zone. Nowadays it is one of the city´s main commercial areas. The street is flanked with buildings constructed from the 17th to the 20th centuries. During the siege of Porto, the regent D.
