About
The quay, designed by Engineer Fernando Silveira Ramos, was awarded the Civil Engineering Secil Award 2009. This structure was built on the northern bank of the River Douro’s mouth to resist the direct action of the storm waves and big floods currents. It bears over 65,000 m3 of concrete and 2,500 tons of steel. It is the perfect spot for a walk into the sea, offering an amazing view. You can also walk it through inside up to the beacon.
