About
Designed by Jerónimo Monteiro da Costa, it was inaugurated in 1928. The garden owes its name to the water reservoirs in Paranhos (Arca d’Água – water deposit) that were the subsistence for many fountains and spouts in Porto until the end of the 19th century. The Arca d’Água Garden is inhabited by leafy trees, an artificial grotto and a lake with some animals. Between the lake and the gazebo, situated southwards and in a more flattened part, we can distinguish the magnolias of great ornamental interest and the cedars. It has a sculpture by Cherters de Almeida, inaugurated in 1972 and titled ` A família` (the family).
