About

Bought in the 20th century by the merchant José do Covelo that gave it the actual name, it encompasses nowadays nearly 8 hectares. The old Quinta de Paranhos was donated to the City Council of Porto and the Ministry of Health, with the restraint on divisibility and for hospital construction, with the Ministry of Health having then waived the execution of the latter. The City Council of Porto currently administrates the total space available to the public. In 1987/88 the quinta was restored from the project by the architect Castro Calapes. The Children´s Playground, inaugurated in 2009, is a design by the architect Célia Peralta. It also lodges the Centre for Environmental Education.

The construction of the dog park has now been completed and offers a new space that features an enclosed area with urban furniture and has some uses, which make this place nicer for the pets and their owners.

Park: 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. every day; Playground: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. every day.
