About

Emma Ruth Rundle has always been a multifaceted artist, able to express herself through environmental abstractions (as in her debut album “Electric Guitar: One”), maximalist textural explorations (listen to her work with Marriages, Red Sparowes and Nocturnes or the collaborations with Chelsea Wolfe and Thou), as well as in the classical singer-songwriter tradition, with a acoustic guitar in hand (as on the album “Some Heavy Ocean”). But on “Engine of Hell”, her new album, she focuses on the piano and combines it with her voice creating a kind of intimacy, as if we were sitting next to her. These are painful and intimate songs, but her mastery is also revealed in the ease with which we can see ourselves in her sorrow, as if she was holding a black mirror up in front of us.
