About

It was ten years ago that Pussy Riot surprised the world, when they were arrested for performing at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, in Moscow, horrifying the Orthodox Church, whose support for Putin they had already denounced. Three young women from this Russian art and protest collective were accused of “hooliganism motivated by religious hatred”, with Yekaterina Samutsevich being released after a couple of months, while Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina remained behind bars for almost two years. The episode had worldwide repercussions and generated a phenomenon of popularity. Over time, the group recorded several videos, always with a political content and in a guerrilla punk rock attitude (“Putin Will Teach You To Love The Motherland”, “I Can't Breathe”, “Organs” or “Make America Great Again”, among others), in addition to appearing in performances, conferences, concerts and theatrical shows.
