“Fazer e Desfazer” (Doing and Undoing) arises from the idea of exploring and discussing gender issues in post-modern contemporary Western societies, but aimed at a young audience, whose physical and intellectual education is still ongoing. As such, the project aims to provide a space for the questioning of identity and body, based on the concept of gender performativity, developed by the philosopher Judith Butler. This play intends to show that sex presentation is not immutable. Gender may be much more than an assigning meanings about biological differences and, thus, become a means for a speech and identity reading. Because femininity doesn't just belong to women. And masculinity doesn't just belong to men. — João Telmo
