About
Discovered nearly 200 years after its composition, Haydn's “Cello Concerto No. 1” quickly established itself as one of the most important works in the instrument's literature. To perform it, Orquestra Baroca is accompanied by Pieter Wispelwey, a Dutch award-winning cellist with a solid international career, and in demand both in the field of early and contemporary music. In the first part of the concert, the Remix Ensemble is accompanied by another prestigious soloist, Carolin Widmann, to perform “Anahit” – a piece that can symbolize the duality between West and East, so dear to the Italian Giacinto Scelsi, and goes from meditation to epiphany. The programme also includes the premiere of a commission to the Young Composer in Residence, Carlos Lopes, written specifically for the Remix Ensemble.
