About

In its sixth edition, MEXE aims at “reinventing a way of being together, in order to experience the risk of becoming human again”. The International Art and Community Meeting is back in the city and at Teatro Carlos Alberto, choosing “risk” as its overarching theme. That concept runs through “Paisajes Para No Colorear” by the Chilean company La Re-Sentida, a show that is the end result of a long process of gathering testimonies from more than one hundred girls who were victims of violence. On stage, nine Chilean teen girls use real-life cases to look at the world and at the brutality they have witnessed or experienced. They depict a society that has internalized and normalized gender violence, attempting to overcome injustices and inequalities in an unprecedented cultural revolution. Directed by Marco Layera, “Paisajes Para No Colorear” is complemented by “Tenemos Mucho que Decir”, a workshop where the collective La Re-Sentida intends to explore the subjective worlds of each participant, their immediate experiences, references, concerns, needs and imaginations. Its goal? To discover, via theatrical expressions, a support for social and ideological demonstration that may yield an effective contribution to the group of participants and to the community where they perform.
