Orquestra Sinfónica proposes a late afternoon entirely filled with scores by Portuguese composers. Carlos Lopes, Young Composer in Residence at Casa da Música in 2021, world premieres Epóxi, a work he wrote specifically for Casa da Música’s in-house symphonic ensemble. Commissioned in 2005, Six Portraits of Pain by António Pinho Vargas is populated by texts on different types of existential suffering, and will feature the soloist Lucas Fels, cellist of the very prestigious Arditti Quartet. The concert also includes a piece from the last creative phase of Fernando Lopes-Graça, a tribute to one of the greatest figures of the classical period: Joseph Haydn.
