Rottweiler is Antonio Bermúdez’s nom de guerre. Jaime Reverter is the presenter of “Luzes e Sombras” [Lights and Shadow], a “hard and real” show that does not “sugar-coat the facts”. A TV studio, a live interview, an outcome tinged by the colours of tragedy. “Rottweiler” is a reflection on the use of violence by people who engage in far- right-wing movements and the way certain TV shows manipulate information. There is something premonitory his work by Spanish playwright Guillermo Heras, written in 2006, at a time in which the concepts of “fake news” and “post-truth” had not yet achieved the central position they hold today, can be seen as possessing a premonitory quality. Stage director Ricardo Simões brings us a scenic approach that questions how lies are diffused under the guise of truth. “What can we believe when we hear, read or see news?”, asks this production by Teatro do Noroeste – Centro Dramático de Viana.
