About

In Chekhov, there are recurring sounds that make it possible to draw a sound dramaturgy: the sounds of partying, gunshots, the woods, and carriages coming and going, departures or arrivals of the train, voices in the distance. And also the most eloquent sound of all, silence. This sonic foundation launched the Ensemble in a singular exploration of this piece, created and directed by Carlos Pimenta. On stage, transformed into a large recording studio, a group of actors records Three Sisters. To this first reading plan, close to radio theatre and implying a mental construction, a second one is interwoven, a scenic reading that works with another dramatic and dramaturgical layer juxtaposed to the words of Chekhov. In this approach, which is made of the bonds between theatre, time and event, sound design is crucial, configuring a universe of active listening that calls upon the spectator's imagination, raising his participation in the design of situations and environments.
