About

In the centenary year of the current crest of FC Porto, designed by Augusto Batista Ferreira – a former player of the club, popularized as ‘Simplício’ –, the Rota do Dragão traces the origins of this brand of FC Porto and Porto’a identity. Since 1922, the dragon of the old City Coat of Arms has been part of the FC Porto symbol, a union that involves the Episcopal Palace of Porto, next to the Cathedral, memories of the Porto City Hall and other places, facts, figures and fun facts full of history. The eighth edition of the Rota do Dragão begins with this original tour to the ciy centre of Porto, led by historian Joel Cleto. The journey into the past covers more than 128 years of blue and white heritage and a permanent relationship with the city of Porto. Awarded the Tourist Information accolade by the Associação Portuguesa de Museologia (APOM), Rota do Dragão is a project that the Futebol Clube do Porto Museum and the historian Joel Cleto have been developing since 2014, maintaining principles of innovation, quality and evolution in the discovery, understanding and sharing of history within the Museum or in the city, but always in the heart of Porto and with a surprising character associated with each tour. Participation is limited and prior registration is advised.
