Inspired by a very distant past, using fragments of ancient Greek philosophical texts that are surprisingly modern, the score in the programme was written for a triple choir and made its Portuguese premiere at Casa da Música in January 2020. The piece confronts ideas that can be seen as antagonistic, or perhaps complementary: fire / river, death / sleep. This is the second streaming of the series dedicated to Philippe Manoury, leading composer of the current French music. The prestigious conductor Sofi Jeannin, former Music director of La Maîtrise de Radio France's Choir and current chief conductor of the BBC Singers, conducted this concert.
