Jason embarks on the Argo ship bound for the island of Colchis, in order to win the golden fleece. When he arrives on the island, both the daughter and the niece of the king of Colchis, respectively, Princess Medea and Creusa, fall in love with Jason. Blinded by passion, Medea helps him to achieve his goal, to get hold of the golden fleece. But Jason, when he finds himself in possession of the treasure, ends up running away with the king's niece, Creusa. Feeling betrayed, Medea conjures a storm against the two lovers that forces them to return to Colchis. The king, offended by Medea for stealing him, marries Jason to Creusa and makes him the ruler of the kingdom. Medea, desperate, flees and disappears into thin air.
