Nostalghia by Andrei Tarkovsky

A Russian poet, feeling trapped by fame and an unhappy marriage, leaves in search of his cultural past in Italy. Travels through Tuscany with Eugenia, his Italian interpreter. An encounter with Domenico, an apparently lunatic old man, ends up enabling the writer to understand the secret of his own nostalgia.
