About

Roma, Città Aperta by Roberto Rossellini

While Rome is occupied by the Nazis, life stories cross. Among the characters are Pina, Francesco and Manfredi, leader of the Roman resistance movement. The priest Pietro helps the resistance, by passing its messages and helping the movement financially. Gestapo captures the priest and interrogates him, trying to convince him to betray his cause. Rome, Open City is considered a crucial example of Neo-realism, forming together with Paisà and Germany Year Zero the so-called “Neorealist Trilogy”.
