About

Singer, guitarist, songwriter and performer, Lula Pena is one of the most exciting musical figures in Portugal today. With a fascinating approach to global folk song, her unique artistic expression embraces different traditions of music, sound and poetry. At Igreja S. Pedro de Miragaia she presents her new album Archivo Pittoresco, released internationally in 2019, where she composed and juxtaposed a repertoire that she improved over time, in a very unique style that features diverse musicalities and languages. With lyrics and poems by writers like Manos Hadjidakis, Violeta Parra, the Belgian surrealist Scutenaire, and of her own creation, Lula sings in Portuguese, French, English, Spanish, Greek and Italian seeking a “tradition on a universal scale”.
