As part of the commemorations of the Bicentenary of Brazil’s Independence, Casa da Música hosts Orquestra Filarmônica de Minas Gerais at Sala Suggia. Considered one of the most successful cultural projects in Brazil, the orchestra was created by the Government of Minas Gerais in 2008. On the podium will be its artistic director and principal conductor Fabio Mechetti, performing a programme that begins in the Alentejo landscapes of Joly Braga Santos and takes us through the sounds of Villa-Lobos' Brazil. The orchestra also has the renowned pianist Jean Louis Steuerman as a guest soloist.
