Virtuosismo Triunfante
Event
About
In a concert honouring the important pianist and pedagogue Helena Sá e Costa, the featured work belongs to one of her favourite composers, Robert Schumann. His Piano Concerto is one of the pinnacles of German romantic music and an example of the perfect combination between poetic sensitivity and triumphant virtuosity. For this, Orquestra Sinfónica relies on the prestigious Christian Zacharias, who will lead the orchestra and play the piano. In a programme of dazzling and enthusiastic music by Otto Nicolai and Johann Strauss II, it is worth highlighting Ravel’s “Valses nobles et sentimentales” – a farewell to the waltz and all its social and historical connotations, by the quill of a major figure in French music.
