About
A contemporary of Bach and Scarlatti, Domenico Zipoli was one of Rome's most respected composers before leaving for South America during colonial times. There he became a Jesuit missionary serving Spain in the indigenous populations of Córdoba, now Argentina's second city, writing music for the various settlements in his area of influence. Music that was mostly discovered only in the twentieth century. Orquestra Barroca and Coro Casa da Música bid farewell to 2019 with the Vespers that Zipoli dedicated to the patron Saint of the Jesuits, Saint Ignatius of Loyola.
