The company Erva Daninha presents in VÃO (GAP), a project by Rede 5 Sentidos, a peculiar contemporary circus show, continuing its research work on new ways of making and showing this art. Two characters share the stage as if it were a one-way road congested with information, illusion and influences. Throughout the performance, this univocal space is being turned into a laboratory-space. In it, the characters try to cross the gap between reality and imagination. Their inner turmoil and the unpredictability of events cause them sometimes cooperating, sometimes fighting. In the tense and unexpected atmosphere of VÃO, risk and illusion lead the spectator through skilful acrobatics and object manipulation, elevating them to a means of communicating emotions and ideas. Meeting-point of two creators from different generations, each with his own technique and life experience, Vasco Gomes, juggler and artistic director of Erva Daninha, and Leonardo Ferreira, an acrobat who just graduated from the Centre National des Arts du Cirque. VÃO is an investigation into the paths we desire and those that life offers us, and the transformations the body undergoes while facing the adversities of those paths.
