The Salão Nobre of Ateneu Comercial do Porto will open its doors to Fado with the initiative “Fado no Ateneu”, starting this month of May. The public will be able to attend musical sessions from Tuesday to Saturday, at 6.30 pm, with the offer of a glass of Port wine. During the month of May, "Fado no Ateneu" welcomes the young fado singer Adriana Paquete as a resident artist. Born in Póvoa de Varzim, she has been singing since she was 12 and, at that age, starred in the show “Annie”, by Filipe La Féria. In March, she released her first album “Meu Coração”, which presents a unique perspective on traditional fado, honoring those with whom she learned – Amália Rodrigues, Beatriz da Conceição, Fernanda Maria and António Rocha. The fado singer will be accompanied by André Teixeira, on the viola, and João Martins on the Portuguese guitar, both with vast musical experience, having already played on multiple stages and alongside prestigious artists. Fado at the Ateneu will continue to happen throughout the year with various artists in a tribute to one of the greatest cultural traditions in Portugal, Fado, in one of the most stunning and historic halls in Portugal. Ateneu Comercial do Porto is an important cultural and social institution in the city. Founded in the 19th century, the institution aims to promote culture and knowledge through its social, cultural and academic activities. With a rich history and tradition, Ateneu Comercial do Porto is a meeting place for artists.
